Andrea Pirlo indeed has retired as a player and is now a coach. But his abilities still impress people, including midfielders Weston McKennie.
Pirlo started his coaching career since the summer of this year. He was initially plotted to be the coach of the U-23 team by Juventus, but immediately leveled up to the senior team following Maurizio Sarri’s sacking.
At the same time as the decision to entrust the new project to Pirlo, Juventus recruiting young United States midfielder Weston McKennie from Schalke 04. McKennie is one of five Juventus recruits, the other four being Arthur Melo, Dejan Kulusevski, Alvaro Morata and Federico Chiesa.
After several weeks of training under Pirlo’s direction, McKennie became increasingly aware of how his coach had been a special player. Three years since his retirement, the 41-year-old still has a touch of class.

“So far so good. He is one of the best in his position and the position is similar to the one I played, so I knew from the start that I would learn a lot from having him as a coach,” McKennie told ESPN quoted Football Italia.
“He plays with us sometimes and he’s so elegant and relaxed, but at the same time you can’t get the ball from him and he plays thin from the back line. Having him as a coach is pretty cool,” he added.
