McGregor has a horrible injury, breaks his foot and ends up defeated again by Poirier

The long-awaited trilogy ended in one of the worst possible ways in UFC 264. In a very ugly move, Conor McGregor broke his left ankle at the very end of the first round and ended up defeated in the third meeting with Dustin Poirier.

The Irishman wasn’t doing very well in the fight. He spent practically the entire first round on the underside, getting beaten a lot. In the final seconds, he got an opening to get up and tried to go all the way up. In his anxiety, however, he ended up misstep, turned his foot completely and fell to the ground at once. Herb Dean still took a while to realize and didn’t end the fight right away. At the end of the round, however, McGregor showed his foot completely free, and the referee decreed the end.

But McGregor didn’t shut up even though his ankle was broken. Sitting on the floor for an interview, he continued to tease Dustin Poirier.

“I was hitting his head, destroying his leg. He said he would win if he continued, he wouldn’t. If he wants to take it outside, let’s go outside, I don’t mind a bit,” said the Irishman, before leave the litter octagon.

Earlier, Poirier had said that the injury had not been as accidental as it seemed.

“He got hurt in one of my defenses at the beginning of the defense, then it broke when he missed the punch. I’m sure! He got hurt as I blocked one of his kicks. I felt something. He was kicking me hard,” he said.

“Karma isn’t a bitch, it’s a mirror. This guy was talking a lot of s**ts and I was working. Sometimes these things happen. I beat him,” he decreed.

This Saturday, the fight was standing for a short time. Poirier quickly closed the distance and went for the fall. McGregor still tried to surprise and almost fit a guillotine, but saw his rival come out of the blow. Dustin ended up on top on the ground and punished a lot for about 3 minutes, with many blows to the face. Conor still got up while the American complained to the judge, but he was soon injured.

“It was an easy fall. He was pulling my glove down to try and kick me. This guy is a bag of garbage!” said Poirier.

The fight ends the trilogy between the two, which began in September 2014 with a knockout of McGregor and had the knockout of Poirier in January of this year.
