McDonald’s will launch its first-ever US-wide loyalty program on July 8. After months of testing, the fast-food giant is joining competing chains like Popeyes (Restaurant Brands International), and Taco Bell (Yum Brands), which have created reward programs to retain the customers they have acquired during the pandemic. Loyalty programs can drive more frequent visits, higher average purchases, and provide restaurants with valuable consumer information. Although McDonald’s has already implemented loyalty programs in other countries, this is the first national launch in the United States. The ‘king of the burger’ hopes the program will also help add a personal touch to the customer experience.
