The McDonald’s restaurant chain witnessed a malfunction on Friday, which resulted in the cessation of ordering and sales operations for several hours throughout the world, especially in the continent of Asia.

The company confirmed that there was a “technical malfunction that is being fixed” and apologized for the inconvenience. The Chicago-based burger giant said the issues were not related to cybersecurity.
An employee working at a McDonald’s store in Bangkok told the AP that the system was down for about an hour. He added that he was unable to accept online or credit card payments and relied only on cash payments.
DownDetector also reported problems with the McDonald’s app in the past few hours.
The McDonald’s restaurant chain lost about $7 billion, on Wednesday, hours after its financial director announced the repercussions of the boycott in the Arab and Islamic world on sales during this year.
Calls to boycott Israeli goods spread on social media in many Arab countries after Israel launched its war on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
