McDonald’s employee reveals: – – Rude

A TikTok video shared by someone claiming to work at McDonald’s has completely taken off.

The TikTok user Deandre Byars (@ dresav92) has split clip, which since Wednesday has generated more than 1.2 million views.

The video claims to show what happens in the kitchen if you demand to get “fresh french fries” at the fast food restaurant:

Instead of tossing new french fries into the fryer, the employee instead picks up older, pre-fried french fries and throws them back in the frying pan so that they appear as freshly fried.

– Stop being rude, writes Byars on TikTok.

– Saturated with fat

On the counter you can see the well-known red boxes in which McDonald’s serves its french fries. The french fries strips themselves are very similar to those served in McDonald’s restaurants.

The reactions have not been long in coming. Almost 3,000 people have commented on the video.

In the comments section, several write that they have worked at McDonald’s and did the same as Byars, while others write that this was against the rules in the family restaurant.

– What is it like to ask about fresh french fries rudely? I swear, people love to do as little as possible, one of them points out.

– DEMANDING and ASKING are TWO different things, Deandre Byars answers.

– Lol, it goes well as long as they are warm, writes another.

– The reason why we are taught not to do this, is because it saturates the french fries with fat, one of them points out.

“Secret” tricks

A TikTok user comes up with ingenious advice for those who want brand new french fries for their food. Several point out the same thing:

– Always ask for french fries without salt. Since we they always be fresh, and you can add a little salt and pepper yourself, she writes.

The idea behind the trick is that when McDonald’s employees fry up a new supply of french fries, they will always salt them afterwards.

However, this is not true, according to communications manager Veronika Skagestad in McDonald’s Norway.

Rejects the claim

Skagestad rejects both the “reheating method” that Byars shows in the video – and that ordering french fries without salt has something to say.

– This is not how we prepare our food. We take pride in serving good food from quality ingredients from Norwegian farmers, and have strict guidelines for how we make the food, she writes in an email to Dagbladet.

She elaborates:

– All food is made to order, and we do not recognize ourselves in the video. Nor in the “tips” from the comments field.

In a fresher video Deandre Byars shares a completely different taste trick to – according to him – lift the french fries experience to new heights.

– Do not reject it until you have tried, he writes – and recommends that you use the spice bag from a noodle package with chili flavor on the fries.

Went viral

Byars (@ dresav92) is not particularly active on TikTok, and has only posted four videos in total. There’s only one about McDonald’s fries that has gone viral.

This is not the first time that McDonald’s employees have shared their “secrets” on TikTok. Earlier in October could an employee reveal that one should be careful about what one says in the drive-thru.

“People do not know that we can hear their conversations even when we do not talk to you to take your order,” she writes in the video.

She also says that everyone who orders is photographed.
