“McDermott’s 30-Point Performance Lifts Spurs over Kings and Delays Division Clinch”

Doug McDermott scored 22 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as the San Antonio Spurs denied Sacramento a chance to clinch the Pacific Division with a 142-134 victory over the Kings on Sunday.

After clinching a playoff berth for the first time since 2006 on Wednesday night on the road, the Kings wanted to clinch their first division title in 20 years in front of their fans, but fell short against a faltering Spurs.

McDermott made three free throws in overtime after being fouled on a 3-point attempt by Keegan Murray to give the Spurs a five-game lead, then hit baskets to keep San Antonio ahead and snap a six-game losing streak .

Julian Champagnie added a career-high 26 points and Tre Jones had 17 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for San Antonio.

De’Aaron Fox had 28 points and Domantas Sabonis had 26 for the Kings, who remain two games behind Memphis in the race for second place in the Western Conference.
