McDavid became the fourth Oilers player to score at least 60 game-winning goals. Glenn Anderson (72), Wayne Gretzky (61) and Jari Kurri (60) did it before him.

After the game with the Blackhawks, four Edmonton players have at least 60 points. In addition to McDavid, Leon Draisaitl (76), Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (both 60 each). The Oilers became the ninth team in NHL history to have four 60-point players in their first 50 games. It was last achieved in the 1995-96 season by the quartet of the Pittsburgh Penguins – Mario Lemieux, Jaromír Jágr, Ron Francis and Tomas Sandström).

Forward Alex Newhook made an interesting mark in the history of the Colorado Avalanche. He scored on his 22nd birthday in a match against St. Louis and managed to do it for the second time in a row, having scored a goal on his birthday a year ago. Apart from him, only Milan Hejduk celebrated his most beautiful day of the year twice in the club’s history (February 14, 1999 and February 14, 2013).

Owen Beck made his NHL debut when he played for Montreal on the ice of Ottawa. The Canadian forward, whom the Canadiens selected in the 2022 draft in the second round from the 33rd place, became the second eighteen-year-old player to play for Montreal this year, after the currently injured Juraj Slafkovski. The last time something similar happened in the club’s history was in the 1984-85 season, when the then eighteen-year-old Stephane Richer and Petr Svoboda joined the Canadian team.

Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby scored a goal and an assist in the loss to San Jose (4:6) and tied for 15th place in Canadian NHL history. Crosby collected 1,469 points (541+928) and got ahead of Hall of Famer Stan Mikita (1,467). Crosby reached the 60-point mark for the fifteenth time in his career.

Aleksander Barkov tied the game with Boston at 3-3 with three seconds left, and finally his Florida team won in overtime. Barkov equaled the record of Patric Hörnqvist, who also scored in 59:57 on January 26, 2021. The latest goal in the club’s history was scored by Ivan Novoselcev (59:58, December 21, 2001).

Barkov (1+2) scored in the eleventh game in a row and reached the goal of 600 points (234+366) in his 638th game. He became the second player in a Panthers jersey (besides Jonathan Huberdeau) and the seventh Finn to do so.

Philadelphia goalkeeper Carter Hart zeroed out Winnipeg’s scorers, stopping 40 home shots and leading the Flyers to a 4-0 victory. He became the seventh goaltender in Flyers history to record at least 40 saves while keeping a clean sheet. The club record is held by Darren Jensen, who caught all 48 shots on January 25, 1986. Only Steve Mason (46), Doug Favell (43) and Roman Čechmánek (41) were better than Hart in Flyers history.

The event of Saturday’s program was also the five points of the captain of San Jose Logan Couture (2+3), or the start of the emergency goalkeeper of Edmonton Matt Berlin at the end in the victory against Chicago.
