Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid will be out for two to three weeks due to an ankle injury, the Alberta organization announced Wednesday.

The 27-year-old athlete was injured Monday evening, during the first period of the game between the Oilers and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Ontarian was attempting an incursion into enemy territory, near the boards, when he tripped on Zach Werenski’s stick before sliding on his back for a long time.
Appearing in pain, number 97 finished his time on the ice before retreating to the locker room and never coming out again.
Since the start of the regular season, the most recent winner of the Conn-Smythe Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player in the playoffs, has amassed three goals and seven assists for 10 points in as many outings.
