McDavid also scores in his 500th game with the Oilers

Really happy with Connor Mc David he’s not talking about his 500th NHL game. Although the captain scored a marvelous goal in his anniversary game against the Washington Capitals on Monday at the Capital One Arena, the Edmonton Oilers were beaten 4-5.

When the score was 0: 2, the outstanding Edmonton striker closed the pass Leon Draisaitl with the goal in the 29th minute. Starting on the blue line, McDavid worked his way through the defense of the Capitals, playing around the Washington goalkeeper Charlie Lindgren (25 saves) and slid the puck to score.

The Alberta hosts have closed three more times two goals behind, but they were not enough to win a point. Twice Ryan Nugent-Hopkinsat 2: 3 and 4: 5, as well as Draisaitl at 3: 4 scored for the Oilers, but in the end four extra-time goals against them were too many to take anything countable from the US capital.

“You can’t concede four power play goals in a match and expect to win it. We are simply not good enough at killing penalties. I would also say that we put ourselves in a position to take those penalties, from which I did” I don’t think we should have take them all, ”Edmonton manager Jay Woodcroft was bothered by the defeat.

Draisaitl was also frustrated with the outcome of the match.

“He’s getting old, fighting back. It’s exhausting, it’s tiring. We’ve only conceded too many goals,” said the Cologne native.

Statistically, the Oilers’ prospects for at least one point were not bad, as they had a record of 258-202-40 with McDavid on the roster for the past eight years since the 2015-16 season, compared to one of 19-22-9.

“Obviously we’re happy here in Edmonton to have such a player, such a superstar, in our ranks,” Edmonton manager Jay Woodcroft said prior to the Washington appearance and revealed in detail why that was the case.

“It’s amazing what he has achieved in such a short time. He is a generational player. His leadership qualities are also excellent and he doesn’t even have enough respect for it. The whole team gets some quality from him. Take this Some strangers just plain.” I don’t understand. I see a player who has progressed through 500 games, who can put his mark on every game. Players who have been able to do amazing things on the ice for such a long period of time often forget what they have are out from the ice. They develop because they work a lot, at a very high level, and then they incorporate it into their game, “Woodcroft said.

In his 500 NHL games with the Oilers, McDavid scored 252 goals, 472 assists and 724 points. He averages 1,448 points per game. No other player can even come close to a similar return during this period as the 25-year center. He scored the second most points Patrick Kane with 633 (227 goals, 406 assists) in 543 games, the third Draisaitl with 632 (260 goals, 372 assists) in 534 games.

McDavid knew how to delight fans in his 500 games and everyone can look forward to his next 500 games.
