McCollum leads Trail Blazers to win over Celtics

CJ McCollum scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and the Portland Trail Blazers held on to a 129-119 win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday for four straight wins.

Damian Lillard finished with 26 points and 13 assists for Portland. Carmelo Anthony added 13 points, including a 3-pointer with 1:08 left to help close the game after Boston had moved within two points.

The Trail Blazers improved to 4-0 during their six-game road trip. They entered the game in seventh place in the Western Conference and are trying to avoid the pre-playoff elimination round.

Jayson Tatum hit 33 points to lead Boston, which is trying to avoid the elimination round in the final weeks of the regular calendar.

After erasing a 32-point deficit to beat San Antonio on Friday night, the Celtics failed to pull off another comeback against the Blazers, who made 52% of their field goals (44 of 85).

Norman Powell had 23 points, Robert Covington had 10 and Jusuf Nurkic had 11 rebounds for Portland.

After both teams tied at 71 at halftime, Portland capitalized on six turnovers in the third quarter to reach the fourth quarter with a 103-98 lead.
