After his country won the World Cup in 2018, French footballer and World Cup holder, Adel Rami, addressed Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez with a libelous sentence due to his behavior during the 2022 final and of his way of celebrating Argentina’s victory.
Ramy said Martinez, who won the World Cup best goalkeeper award, is “the greatest son of a bitch in world football”, adding that “Kylian Mbappe shocks them so much that they celebrate the victory against our wonders more than they celebrate winning the World Cup.”
Rami continued on social media by saying that the best goalkeeper in the World Cup was not Martinez, but Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan goalkeeper.
After the final match, Martinez waved the prize for the best goalkeeper of the competition, made a sexual gesture towards the French fans and launched a song that read: “A minute of silence for Mbappé, who is dead”.
Then, during the festivities in Buenos Aires, he performed a doll with the image of Mbappé in front of cheering crowds.
Many agreed that Martinez even crossed the line with his tense performance throughout the match, with some calling it “cheating.”
