The visitors took the lead in the match that took place in Group F from the middle of the first half thanks to Alexander Isak’s goal, and thwarted a sweeping attack from the hosts before the end.
Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope made many wonderful saves and his team was on the verge of achieving a wonderful double by winning two matches at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain after winning 4-1 in the first leg.
But referee Simon Marciniak awarded a penalty kick to the French club due to a handball against Tino Livramento.
