While Vinícius Júnior scored the 1-1 final goal against Las Palmas on Thursday, Kylian Mbappé took on Betis Sevilla on Sunday – and scored with a cool goal to make it 2-0. But who is now the first scorer for the Royals?
“Everyone worked well and Viní Júnior helped him (Mbappé; Anm. d. Red.) gave the penalty. He was very unselfish and the two have a good relationship with Rodrygo. It is important that Mbappé scores a goal, but we are evaluating the collective work,” explained coach Carlo Ancelotti – without fully answering the question.
Mbappé: “We have to be intelligent”
Mbappé was clearer on Sunday evening. “It’s a communication, Viní takes the first step and I take the second. The coach gives us both freedom and we have to be intelligent to see how the game is going,” said the 25-year-old, making it clear at the same time: There is no first shooter.
