PSG started the Champions League eliminations with the knowledge that they have been eliminated at this stage of the tournament in the last 2 seasons. Now the Parisians hosted Real Sociedad. The French finished second in the group of death, behind Borussia Dortmund but ahead of AC Milan and Newcastle. The Basques, on the other hand, surprised everyone by topping the group with the presence of Inter.
