The day after PSG lost to Lens, Kylian Mbappé flew to New York with Achraf Hakimi. He attended a Nets game at the Barklays Center on Monday night.
Failing to conquer a second world champion and little more to follow in the footsteps of Pelé, the only winner of three World Cups, Kylian Mbappe has conquered the football planet, entering a new dimension in terms of popularity. The Blues striker was able to see him on Sunday during the away match from PSG to Lens. As the Parisian players were warming up, the Bondynois heard Stade Bollaert chanting his name.

And on Monday, in New York and more precisely at the Barklays Center, the former Monegasque received an impressive ovation. Intending to take advantage of the few days of rest imposed by Christophe Galtier after the hasty return to training at the end of the World Cup, Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi flew to the Big Apple and were able to watch the match between the Nets and the Spurs.

And when the Barcklays Center screen showed his face after broadcasting images of his second goal against Argentina in the final, the New York crowd made a rare noise and chanted his name despite some boos from the Argentine community . The two men obviously didn’t leave empty-handed as Kevin Durant also came to greet them before posing with the two PSG pals, his shirt in his hand.
The Nets had seen big things for the tricolor striker. The 2018 world champion was in fact invited to the New York locker room after the match and was able to speak among the NBA stars, winners of their 12th game in a row (139-103). “Great game guys, congratulations. It was really fun to watch. Good luck for the season”he pitched before going on to greet each player with “congratulations.”
