Kylian Mbappe took advantage of Mohamed Salah’s absence with his Liverpool team from participating in the Champions League for the current season to equal his scoring record in the tournament.
Salah will miss participating in the European Champions League after Liverpool failed to qualify for the competition, as the Reds were satisfied with the qualifying seat for the European League.
French jewel Mbappe succeeded in scoring a goal and leading his team to a 2-0 victory yesterday, Wednesday, over its Spanish guest, Real Sociedad, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the European Champions League.
Mbappe’s goal against Sociedad made him equal with Salah in their number of goals in the Champions League, with 44 goals for each player.
Mbappe was able to reach this number of goals in 68 matches, 11 fewer than Salah.
In terms of making goals in the Champions League, Mbappe made 26 assists, 11 more than Salah.
Salah is still ahead of Mbappe in winning the continental Champions League title after he won it with Liverpool in the 2019 season, while the French star is waiting to climb the podium and win the title for the first time with the Parisian team.
