One of the football world’s most protracted transfer history has come to an end. Kylian Mbappé, who for over a year was rumored to be on his way to Real Madrid, has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain over the 2025 season.
The 23-year-old has had a brilliant season in the PSG shirt and has been noted for 39 goals and 26 assists in 46 matches. It is therefore not surprising that there has been great interest in the Frenchman.
Now Mbappé reveals that he did not just choose between Real Madrid and PSG. A Premier League club was also involved in the hunt.
– I was not only in talks with Real Madrid and PSG, I also had talks with Jürgen Klopp about going to Liverpool, Mbappé says to The Telegraph and develops:
– I talked to Liverpool because it is my mother’s favorite club, my mother loves Liverpool. I do not know why, you can ask her! It’s a good club. When I was in Monaco five years ago, we met Liverpool, it’s a big club. But in the end, it was between Real Madrid and PSG.
Kylian Mbappé has previously praised Jürgen Klopp and called Liverpool a “machine”. Klopp recently confirmed that Liverpool have shown interest in the PSG star.
– Of course we are interested in Mbappé, we are not blind. If you do not like him, you have to question yourself, but we are and can not be involved in the fight, Klopp said then.
