Paris –
Javier Thebes can’t figure out how Paris Saint Germain can maintain Kylian Mbappe from the chase Real Madrid. He also criticized Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Mbappe’s transfer saga seems to have come to an end. The 23-year-old star reportedly chose to stay at PSG rather than join Madrid.
Mbappe was previously rumored to agree with Madrid’s offer. However, PSG also gave him a tempting lure to extend his contract.
Paris Saint Germain claimed to have offered a new contract worth 150 million euros to Kylian Mbappe. The figure is reportedly almost the same as what was offered Real Madrid.
However, PSG also offers more advantages for Mbappe. The 2018 World Cup champions are said to be given a say in the selection of the club’s coach and sporting director.
Not only that, Mbappe was also given a voice to assess who PSG needed to recruit in order to strengthen the squad to be the best in Europe. This is what Madrid does not give.
The news of the cancellation of Mbappe’s transfer to Madrid received scathing comments from Javier Thebes. According to him, it doesn’t make sense for PSG to keep holding on to Mbappe at a time when the club’s finances are in trouble.
Tebas did not even hesitate to mention the PSG boss, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, already insulted football. According to him, the Qatari man is no different from the European Super League, which is both a threat to the world of football.
“What PSG did by extending Mbappe for a huge amount of money… after losing 700 million euros this season and having over 600 million euros in wages is an insult to football,” Tebas said on Twitter.
“Al-Khelaifi is as dangerous as the Super League,” he concluded.
