MBank can already make immediate payments. But they will not be free

It has newly joined the system of immediate payments mBank. So far, he can only receive them from other banks that have introduced this innovation before.

The sending of immediate payments should be operational by mBank by the end of September, confirmed Štěpán Dlouhý, a spokesman for the Pívání.cz website. “Under optimal conditions,” he adds. The same procedure – try out incoming payments live first and only add outgoing ones after a few days to weeks – was chosen by most competitors beforehand.

“Initially, immediate payments can only be sent in internet banking, the service will be available later in the mobile application,” adds mBank on its website.

When a payment is made immediately, it will arrive in another bank’s account within a few seconds. Even at night, on the weekend or during the holidays – just anytime.

They were the first to put it into operation immediate payments last February Air Bank a Česká spořitelna. She joined in April Creditas, in September and October Commercial Bank, Raiffeisenbank a PPF Banka, in December Currency a ČSOB, at the turn of the year Fio. This spring is launched Equa bank – in her case, however, they can only be sent from a mobile application, not from internet banking.

mBank is thus the eleventh bank to join instant payments. She originally planned to launch them at the beginning of this year, then she talked about the beginning of summer, the last time about September.

Almost all banks, which have already initiated immediate payments, do not charge anything more for sending them than for regular transfers. So they are usually free or as part of a monthly flat rate – just like regular transfers. Only in Komerční banka, which in the basic variant of the account deducts six crowns for ordinary outgoing payments, does the same price remain for immediate transfers. A na charge the owners of some older or otherwise specific accounts will also encounter, for example in ČSOB or Česká spořitelna. But there is no extra charge compared to how much a standard transaction otherwise costs you.

So far, the only exception that charges a surcharge is Air Bank. When you’re not using it Great tariff with a lump sum of 100 crowns per month, you will receive an immediate payment for a symbolic crown, while the normal transfer is free. From November 3, when Air Bank changes the price list and merge tariffs into one, immediate payments will be at no extra charge – that is, free of charge.

MBank also plans to introduce a surcharge. The current price list, which has been in force since 24 July, envisages that outgoing instant transfers are to be worth the crown, while current transactions are free of charge. “We are still counting on the fee,” confirms spokesman Štěpán Dlouhý.

The only way to send a payment from mBank’s internet and mobile banking so far remains the standard one. If the client enters it by 1 pm on a working day, he will come to another domestic bank on the same day. After 1 pm or when entering on weekends or holidays, the next working day will arrive. So far, clients do not have a faster option for an additional fee, because mBank does not offer priority (express, urgent) payments.

During the summer, she planned to launch immediate payments as well Oberbank, but has not yet joined the system. Clients will probably see this year as well UniCredit Bank, but officially did not mention any date in advance. According to earlier information, they planned to put the immediate payments into operation by the end of the year as well Hello bank a Expobank, on the contrary Trinity Bank she ruled out their start this year.

You can only send instant payments between banks that already know how. So it’s not enough that yours can send them. They didn’t get involved either building societies, although most are part of banking groups that already know how to make immediate payments. For example, do not immediately send the mortgage payment from ČSOB to the sister Hypoteční banka.

Only amounts up to CZK 400,000 can be sent immediately, Česká spořitelna and Fio have reduced the limit to CZK 100,000. And even for smaller amounts, a standing order will not be sent immediately, you will probably not succeed with a bulk order (multiple payments at once in one form). It should therefore be a classically entered one-off payment order.

MBank also has a maximum limit of CZK 400,000 for an individual payment, the daily limit is CZK 1 million.

Immediate payment arrives at another bank almost immediately and in principle does not cost anything more than standard. On the other hand, priority, express or urgent payments – despite their name – are not in such a hurry, yet they are many times more expensive than a regular payment. Different banks have approached their procurement differently, a less experienced client can sometimes be confused.
