Mazraoui’s Support for Palestine Causes Tensions at Bayern Munich

‘Mazraoui is diametrically opposed to his teammate with his post about the conflict in Gaza’

Noussair Mazraoui declared his solidarity with Palestine on his Instagram story. According to BILD, this could cause ‘problems’ at Bayern Munich. Mazraoui’s teammate, goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, has Israeli nationality. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is difficult for Peretz.

The Israeli goalkeeper, who came from Maccabi Tel Aviv last summer for five million euros including bonuses, expressed his support for the Israeli people on Instagram with Hebrew texts. “My heart belongs to all people. Stay strong and take care of yourself. We will overcome this too.”

Mazraoui expressed his support for the people in Palestine on his Instagram channel. He shared a verse from the Quran on his page. “And do not think that Allah is heedless of what those who do wrong do. It only restrains them until the day when their eyes will be frozen in horror.”

That video was accompanied by a flag of Palestine and contributions from other Moroccan teammates, who also expressed their support for the Palestinians. BILD predicts that this could lead to tensions within the Bavarian selection.

One of the stories that Mazraoui posted on Instagram.

“What Mazraoui posted in his Instagram story on Saturday evening will hurt Peretz all the more. The fact that Mazraoui shares this will probably hit Bayern’s Israel goalkeeper heavily,” the German newspaper said.

Bayern already made a statement on X the day after Hamas’ first attacks on Israel. “There is no justification for the murders and brutal violence against the civilian population,” wrote the German record champion.

“We are concerned for our friends in Israel and hope for peaceful coexistence for all people in the Middle East.”
