The Japanese company Mazda has registered a new trademark in the form of a rotary engine. It will presumably be used for models with a hybrid powertrain.
This is reported by the portal Carscoops… Several years ago, Mazda said that they are not abandoning the idea of using a rotary engine in their cars. However, it will now be used on hybrid models with a traction electric motor. And the rotary engine will be used as a gas generator.
The trademark application depicts the rotor of a Wankel engine in the shape of a rounded triangle, inside which is the letter “e”. It is expected that the first power unit with a rotary gas generator will receive the MX-30 EV crossover. In addition, in the depths of the company’s design bureau, work is underway to create a hybrid sports car, the prototype of which will be the RX-Vision concept coupe. So fans of the brand are eagerly awaiting the return of the RX model.
With a trend towards a resurgence of Japanese sports cars such as the Nissan Z and Toyota Supra in recent years, Mazda’s sporty model looks natural.
As previously reported OBOZREVATEL, Mazda said on its electrification strategy.
