Mayweather promises an unforgettable show against Gotti III in Mexico City

Mexico City. American boxer Floyd Mayweather, who retired undefeated in 2017, claimed on Wednesday to be the best and promised to put on a great show when he faces John Gotti III for the second time.

Mayweather and Gotti III will meet again on Saturday in an exhibition fight in Mexico City, after facing each other in June 2023 in a fight that ended with both boxers’ teams exchanging blows in the ring after the referee stopped the fight.

“I am and have always been the best, no matter what you throw at me, I am ready, I have all the resources to get ahead. I came to put on a great show, all my talent and skills, I can’t predict the future, but what I can guarantee is that I will put on a great show that will be unforgettable,” Mayweather said at a press conference.

“For me this is easy, it’s like going for a walk every morning. I have competed throughout my career with the best in the world. I am a fighter and I will be one until the last day of my life. I am living my retirement fighting,” added the 47-year-old former boxer.

The last time Mayweather fought was in August 2017 when he beat Irishman Conor McGregor by technical knockout, allowing him to maintain his unbeaten streak of 50 wins, surpassing heavyweight Rocky Marciano’s record of 49 wins without a defeat.

Gotti III, who made his mixed martial arts debut in 2017 and made the switch to professional boxing three years later, has a record of only two fights that he has won by knockout.

“Floyd kept his word, he gave me a rematch, I’m in the best shape of my life, I’m prepared, I know this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I’m going to take advantage of it. I’ve evolved a lot as a boxer, both mentally and physically,” said the 32-year-old boxer.
