Sunday February 12, 2023.- The fifth Royal Resorts race became a great athletic party with 800 competitors who reached the finish line at the rhythm of the batucada, where the great winners in the 10 kilometers were; Mayra Castaneda and Roboan Espinosa.
The freshness of the morning was forgotten with the previous warm-up of the athletes, to give way to the children’s tests that put together the party in the Hotel Zone, to start with the official departures of the competitors.
In the 4 to 7-year-old category, 500 meters were run and the winners were Mauricio Rodriguez and Imany Hernández. In the division between 8 and 12 years old, the winners were Jessicar Mar and César Ramos.
With the atmosphere at its peak, the competitors of the three, five and ten kilometers were called to the starting point, to listen to the latest technical instructions from the general coordinator Armando Macias and to listen to the starting shot by Gabriel Aguiñaga on behalf of Alejandro Luna, director of sports in Benito Juárez.
In the star test of the 10 kilometers, the winner was Roboan Espinoza with a time of 33 minutes and 29 seconds, leaving Javier Palacios in second place and Iñaki Moreno in third place.
In the women’s 10-kilometer division, the winner with a meteoric close was Mayra Castañeda with a record of 40 minutes and 42 seconds, beating Dulce Cen in the final stretch, who took second place, and Nancy Gutiérrez entered third.
In Master 10 kilometers the winners were Alma Carranza and Reynaldo Ku. In the Veterans category, the first to reach the finish line were Veronica Ridríguez and Quetzalcoal Molina.
The five kilometer test turned out to be spectacular with the victory of Christian Huitron with a time of 17 minutes and three seconds, the second place went to José García, leaving Orlando Ramírez in third place.
Miriam Piña closed with a bang and reached the finish line of the five kilometers with a time of 21 minutes, followed by Gilda Alvarez and Betzaida Rosas.
The winner of the 5km Master test was Addy Almeyda and Ricardo Serrano triumphed in the men’s race. While Eliseo Durán was the winner in the Veterans 5km, and the winner was Angélica González.
At the beginning of the award ceremony, César Barrios, director of Parque Cancún, thanked all the competitors for contributing their grain of sand so that, together with the Royal Resorts hotel, directed by Armando Millet, a playground for people with disabilities can be installed shortly. different capacities.
