The Mayor’s Office of Cartagena has managed to vaccinate nearly 30,000 pets against rabies.

The District Administrative Department of Health (DADIS) of Cartagena is carrying out a zoonosis campaign that seeks to vaccinate 90 thousand dogs and cats in the city against rabies. This day takes place in town number 2, reaching the Bicentenario, El Pozón neighborhoods and communes 4, 5 and 6.

“During the month of October our officials will be in town 2 and we plan to be present with the anti-rabies vaccination in town 3 starting in November, ending in town 1, in order to prevent and care for people’s health. who are in contact with these animals,” explained José Saavedra, director of DADIS, through a statement.
According to the entity, the biological is applied to canines and felines from 3 months of age and is reinforced every year. During the vaccination day, DADIS officials go from house to house and with the help of the public address system they alert the community so that no dog or cat is left without the vaccine.

According to DADIS, there have been no cases of rabies in Cartagena for more than 30 years, neither in humans nor in animals. The District Administration has managed to vaccinate nearly 30 thousand pets against rabies.
The pet must be older than 3 months. If necessary, have the muzzle and leash on. The application must be filled out with the owner’s and pet’s information.
