With the installation of 1,200 square meters of emerald grass, work began to beautify Plaza 2 de Diciembre in Montero, with the aim of improving the image of one of the most important public spaces in the city.
The Municipal Secretary of Environment and Services, Hugo Tinta, reported that in addition to laying the grass, which will take place in three days, work will also be done to prune some trees and condition the irrigation system. Biofertilizer and urea are being used in the work to optimize the land, and the irrigation system will be key to guarantee the growth of the grass.
Esmeralda grass has special characteristics that make it ideal for Montero’s climate; it is heat resistant, can withstand periods of drought, and requires little fertilization. In addition, its maintenance is simple, and its resistance to footsteps makes it suitable for public spaces. The grass comes in sod (sheets half a meter wide by one meter long), which makes it easier to place and ensures rapid adaptation.
The team working on this project is made up of around 30 people, and the beautification tasks are expected to be completed in a week.
