Under the joint initiative of the Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta and the National Police, more than 55 official educational institutions in the municipality received a warm and safe return to classes. With pedagogical and recreational activities, we sought to provide students with an environment conducive to resuming their academic work.
The Secretary of Education, Carlos García Alicastro, led this significant event at the Francisco José de Caldas educational institution, accompanied by the Government team, the Commander of the Metropolitan Police of Cúcuta, Colonel Sandra Mora, and various specialties of the National Police.
In relation to the return to classrooms, García Alicastro highlighted the importance of Decree 103, issued on January 15, 2024 by the Mayor’s Office, which establishes measures to guarantee safe environments for students. According to the decree, the consumption, marketing and distribution of psychoactive substances or intoxicating beverages is prohibited within a radius of 100 meters around schools, parks, sports venues and other places frequented by minors.
“We are coordinating all the necessary measures so that our students have the necessary guarantees to restart their academic activities as they should,” stated the Secretary of Education.
The municipal administration reaffirmed its commitment to guarantee favorable conditions so that the children, adolescents and young people of the city can enjoy a safe educational environment, thus contributing to the reduction of school dropouts.
