Mayors of Several Texas Cities Unite to Ask ERCOT for Solutions | Univision 45 Houston KXLN

HOUSTON, Texas.- The mayors of several cities in Texas have signed and sent a letter to Bill Magness, ERCOT’s CEO, asking him for answers to the blackouts that occurred last week after the winter storm.

“Our residents deserve answers and they deserve reliable energy for their homes and businesses” can be read in the letter that is signed by 15 mayors of Texas, including those of Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Fort Worth.

Millions of homes and businesses were without power in the state when the winter storm hit last week, leaving little-seen freezing temperatures in the region.

They also criticize that the information published before the storm by ERCOT was not adequate for residents to prepare for what finally happened.

“We urge state leaders to thoroughly examine the policies and decisions that left our cities and the entire state vulnerable,” says the letter that was also sent to Governor Greg Abbott.

However, the signatory mayors showed their willingness to collaborate to find solutions to the problems presented in recent days in the electrical system. “We urge you to act as soon as possible” pointing to Magness.

The letter ends by saying that Texans are counting on the leadership of this ERCOT executive to offer solutions.
