The most crypto-friendly bidding – The cities of Miami and New York – or more precisely their mayors -, seem to want to compete on who will be more favorable to Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies. Indeed, barely 2 days after Miami mayor said he wants his next bitcoin salary, the newly elected mayor of New York does the same, followed closely by a third initiative.
These mayors of big cities racing for bitcoin
It all started with a tweet from the podcaster and big fan of cryptos, Anthony Pompliano, who said that it was high time that a first politician had the courage to agree to receive your salary in BTC. The mayor of the city of Miami, Francis Suarez, a bitcoiner in front of the eternal and who has never hidden his ambitions to make his city the first real “crypto-city”, quickly replied that he indeed wanted his next salary to be paid to him in hard BTC.
But it was without counting on Eric Adams, the newly elected mayor of the city of New York. Responding tit for tat to the tweet of his counterpart in Miami, the New York mayor has outbid, not only on the words of Francis Suarez, but in addition, reaffirms his remarks as a candidate of last June to make the Big Apple a “Bitcoin nerve center”.
“In New York, we always do things big, so I’m going to take my next ‘3’ bitcoin salaries (…). New York City is going to be the center of the cryptocurrency industry, and many other fast growing innovative industries. Wait a bit to see! “

A mayor who wants to help the development of Bitcoin
Eric Adams is therefore not satisfied not his only case vis-à-vis the adoption of the king of cryptos. He wishes to share it with his fellow New Yorkers. This is what he said a little earlier, during a interview given from Bloomberg.
The mayor of New York seems to want to imitate once again its counterpart in Florida, which established a MiamiCoin in his city:
“Francis Suarez has a MiamiCoin which is doing very well. We will study the question to achieve this as well (…) [il nous faut] examine what is preventing the growth of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in our New York City. “
Suffice to say that the “Friendly competition”, as Eric Adams describes it, between the two major American cities is that at its beginnings.
Divine Edile
We finally learned a few hours ago, materializing the beginning of which could be a domino effect, this time it is the mayor of Tampa (Florida), Jane Castor who announced that she too would ask for her salary to be paid in Bitcoin.
If the big American metropolises compete in declarations all more pro-cryptos than the others, the most rapid adoption of cryptocurrencies may be taking place elsewhere. Indeed, emerging countries would be the most fond of actually using Bitcoin and cryptos, because it constitutes a real improvement of their economic system.
