Mayor wanted to tip NOS about Kaag, but sent an app to the wrong person

Jan Boelhouwer, acting mayor of Waalre, told the NOS last month about possible new ministerial posts for Sigrid Kaag (D66) and Wopke Hoekstra (CDA). He accidentally forwarded the information to the wrong person, who then posted it on Twitter.

According to Xandra Koster, she already knew in November that Kaag would come to Finance and Hoekstra to Foreign Affairs. “Some politician thought I was a certain Xander (Xander van de Wulp of the NOS, ed.) to whom he could leak.”

According to Boelhouwer, D66 would have demanded that Kaag become Minister of Finance, because this is a key position in the distribution of money. Wopke Hoekstra, currently a caretaker minister in that post, would thus have ‘put a spoke in the wheel’, it can be read.

D66 leader Sigrid Kaag confirmed on Friday that she will become Minister of Finance in the Rutte IV cabinet. She succeeds CDA party leader Wopke Hoekstra, who will now be given another ministerial post. Which is not yet known.

‘There was no confidentiality’
According to a spokesperson for Boelhouwer, it is common for political circles to talk about the formation. “This is different from leaking. Jan Boelhouwer has heard this information. There was no confidentiality,” she says in a response to Omroep Brabant.
