“After I was tested for the first time, I developed pneumonia and a very high fever. I didn’t expect a fit fifty-something could be hit so quickly and so hard by it. Can’t remember ever feeling so sick ”, says Van Veldhuizen. “I now speak from my own experience; don’t underestimate the virus! Make sure you are quick, do not wait, but let yourself be tested. Listen to your body and install the CoronaMelder app if you haven’t already. ”
“This means that I will stay at home for the time being until I no longer have symptoms and have recovered,” said Van Veldhuizen who is not only mayor of Enschede, but also chairman of the Twente Safety Region. “Fortunately, we have excellent substitutes for both positions so that the work can continue as usual”.
