Mayor of The Hague ends demonstrations Malieveld | Inland

The police are present in large numbers on the street in The Hague on Friday, because of various demonstrations. In front of the Binnenhof there is, among other things, a wall of agents. The police are also visibly present on the Plein, in front of the entrance to the Lower House, says a police spokesperson.

Urgent law on corona measures

Several demonstrations have been registered for Friday, at various locations, the spokesperson indicates. For example, a call has been made to protest against the emergency law that must provide a legal basis for the government’s corona measures. The event is on the Lange Voorhout and the Lange Vijverberg. There would also be demonstrations at the police headquarters in The Hague against police violence. Trade union FNV wants to hold a peaceful protest at the Belarusian embassy with a group of more than sixty union members on Friday afternoon.

According to the police spokesperson, the municipality of The Hague has previously decided that demonstrations may only take place on the Malieveld and the Laan van Reagan and Gorbachev located there. The officers present approached protesters and referred them to Malieveld, the spokesman said. But many protesters did not heed this.
