The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, told how the Russians are behaving now in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporozhye region and what is happening in Melitopol and around the city. In an online broadcast, he noted that Russians are desperate and demoralized, and to confirm this, he recounted several situations.
“First of all, we see last week, obviously, a massive loss of morale among the enemy. In Tokmak, two Russian soldiers were found shot, not on the front line, but in the rear. We also know that in Melitopol, one of the soldiers hanged himself, because he did not want to carry out the order of the enemy. We see a trend,” Fedorov stressed, quoted by UNIAN.
In addition, the Russians are deploying and searching for Russian military personnel who are trying to escape from the temporarily occupied territory, disguising themselves in civilian clothes.
“Today, the enemies organize filtering and look for cars with masked Russian fighters. Why do they do this? Because the Russian fighters do not want to fight. They dress in civilian clothes and try to escape from the temporarily occupied territory,” explained Fedorov.
However, the mayor of Melitopol warned that such cases should not be taken as evidence that the Russian invaders are already “on the run”, but that they are willing to fight.
“My words should definitely not be understood in the sense that the enemy is fleeing from our territory. But this is exactly the mood of the enemies – they definitely do not want to fight. They are afraid of what is happening now,” emphasized Fedorov.
He also told how the approach of the occupiers to the mobilization they are conducting in the temporarily occupied territories has changed.
“We see that the mobilization has really started, but it is not massive. Because the enemy today is not trying to force us to join the army, but to buy our residents so that they join the army (of the Russian Federation, – UNIAN) . They offer to conclude contracts for 200 thousand rubles of wages and 180 thousand rubles for signing the contract. And they try to do this in employment centers, respectively, they send mass SMS messages that the contract must be signed. But, of course, no one it doesn’t go,” emphasized Fedorov.
The mayor of Melitopol added that at the same time, mass re-registration of civilians continues in the temporarily occupied territories, placing them under military records. That is why there are cases when “our residents are taken prisoner and then found at the front, where they are forced to either dig trenches or take a machine gun.”
On September 27, the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said that the Russian invaders are en masse settling in the houses of local residents in the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region. In this way, the invaders are trying to create a “human shield” of the civilian population in front of the Ukrainian armed forces. According to him, the most massive settlement by Russian invaders was in the section from Tokmak (Molochanskaya) to Rabotinoy (Novoprokopovka).
In addition, the Russian army is creating new fortifications in the rear and around the temporarily occupied settlements in the Zaporozhye region, feeling the constant pressure of the Ukrainian armed forces.
On September 28, the morning report of the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continued to conduct a defense in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine, an offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol, and offensive actions in the direction of Bakhmut.
