She does not want to make a big deal out of it, despite the wrist operation she had to undergo on Monday. Mayor of Manom, a small town adjoining Thionville, Laurence Herfeld is nevertheless recovering from an altercation, which occurred on Sunday August 27 during the patronal feast.
The day had started well: between the awards ceremony for the flowered houses, the garage sales and the activities in the schoolyard, there was plenty to have fun with. As the celebrations were in full swing, the attitude of a woman in her forties began to pose a problem. The latter decided to use the inflatable games reserved for children. A deputy politely told her to stop, which she did, but in retaliation, she went to disconnect the power supply to a structure. Having become aware of being in the presence of a particularly aggressive person, the mayor went to meet him to tell him to leave the premises. A fragment of a second later, Laurence Herfeld was violently pushed to the ground. The fall resulted in a displaced radius fracture. Many witnesses attended the scene but it was ultimately the son of the first magistrate who put the woman on the run.
The 40-year-old, who lives in the Thionvillois agglomeration, is already known to the police for acts of violence and rebellion against persons holding public authority. The mayor of Manom will file a complaint on Tuesday.
