Mayor of Florida asks the Government to expedite the opinion of the Law of Closure of Streets and Passages » La Voz de Maipú

Yesterday morning, Wednesday, July 20, the mayor of La Florida, Rodolfo Cartercame to La Moneda to enter a trade requesting the Government to expedite and dictate as soon as possible the regulations that allow the entry into force of the Law of Closure of Streets and Passages.

It should be noted that the deadline for publishing the regulation expired 55 days ago.

The rule promulgated on January 25 during the Government of President Sebastián Piñera, It would allow the installation of gates on roads that have an access and exit.

For the Law to enter into force, the Government of President Gabriel Boric had to publish the regulations until May 25. However, this has not happened.

For the same reason, Rodolfo Carter entered, together with neighbors of his commune, a letter addressed to the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, so that the authority expedite the process and allow the entry into force of the rule.

“The Government of Sebastián Piñera did not enter the regulation, having it finished, until the last days of his mandate. And when the new authorities headed by Gabriel Boric arrived, the first thing they did, instead of submitting the regulation to the Comptroller’s Office, was retain it because they wanted to review it,” said Carter.

In this context, the mayor called on President Boric to “before campaigning, keep your oath to take this problem forward, the work is already done”.

Court ruled in favor of closing passages for the safety of neighbors

A few days ago, the Court of Appeals of San Miguel resolved in favor of a neighbor of a passage in Pedro Aguirre Cerda for the closure of the street for the safety of the community.

The foregoing, after one of the inhabitants of the sector filed a protection appeal against the action, since he had a shoe sales enterprise in his home.

According to the seller, there was lost about 40% of their customers for the closure of the passage.

However, the Court ruled that “it is not an arbitrary act, given that it is a public and notorious fact and due to the increase in insecurity in the streets and alleys of our country”, as reported by El Mercurio.

Despite the decision of the Court of San Miguel, its response did not end the conflict, so the Supreme Court must have the last word.

Neighbors of Maipú and closure of passages

In the case of Maipu, the neighbors and neighbors live a similar situation. It has already happened that some residents have protested to allow the closure of the passages.

What moves them is the same cause as the rest: they seek greater security in their neighborhoods.

The mayor of Maipu, Thomas Vodanović, understands the fear of the Maipucinos. In fact, last year the mayor summoned the Senate to approve a bill that regularizes the existence of gates in passages.

At the time, Vodanovic argued that while these structures are not an ideal solution, under current conditions, they do contribute to the sense of security of the neighbors, and it is necessary to make the standard more flexible so that the installation of these gates is regularized.
