Mayor of Enschede in hospital after corona infection | Inland

Van Veldhuizen has a serious pneumonia with a high fever. “Can’t remember ever feeling so sick,” said Van Veldhuizen on Saturday. According to a spokesperson for the municipality of Enschede, the mayor is currently not in intensive care.

The mayor caught a cold last weekend and developed a fever. He then went into home quarantine. A first test was taken last Monday, of which the result was negative. As the symptoms worsened during the week, a second test followed, which confirmed the contamination with the coronavirus.

Van Veldhuizen is located in the Medisch Spectrum Twente hospital in Enschede.
