Previously, two groups of Bitung residents clashed between Palestinian and pro-Israel supporters. Some even carried Israeli flags and burned Palestinian flags while carrying sharp weapons.

The atmosphere was quite scary as seen in the video circulating on social media.

Maurits appealed to all Bitung City residents to work together to maintain the situation and conditions so that they remain conducive. The government, together with religious leaders, community leaders and elements of the TNI/Polri, are currently in the field to resolve differences of opinion.

“Let us together support the government’s efforts in the field by not distributing photos and videos that can provoke various parties,” he said.

The Mayor invites everyone to protect the environment, reprimand each other, reconcile each other so that they are not provoked by individuals who want to create division in this city.

If there is anything striking, immediately report it to the nearest government/TNI Polri apparatus or contact Call Center 112 (free).

“God Bless the City of Bitung, North Sulawesi Province, God Bless the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” he added. (BETWEEN)
