Banjarmasin, KP – The Mayor of Banjarmasin, H Ibnu Sina gave a speech and opened the Socialization of Early Detection of Cervical Cancer with the Urine Sample DNA HPV Method and the importance of HPV Immunization organized by YKI Banjarmasin, at the Galaxy Hotel Ballroom, Thursday (10/08/2023) .
It is known that cervical cancer is a type of cancer that attacks the cervix (cervix) caused by infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Where this cancer ranks 4th as a cancer that is dangerous for women globally.
H Ibnu Sina expressed his gratitude for the collaboration that has been established between the Banjarmasin City Health Office together with YKI Banjarmasin and PT Bio Farma in organizing this activity. He said cervical cancer is a scourge for women in general. Which he said, this cancer ranks 2nd as the most dangerous cancer after breast cancer in Indonesia.
Moreover, said H Ibnu Sina, the level of women’s awareness about the importance of screening or detecting cervical cancer in Indonesia is still relatively low. That’s because, the method commonly used to detect uterine cancer early, namely the Acetic Acid Visual Inspection method or IVA, is considered uncomfortable for most women.
“This usually happens to women and is like the number 2 Silent Killer in Indonesia after breast cancer,” said Ibnu.

On this basis, the presence of the HPV DNA method, which simply uses a urine sample, is considered very helpful and can encourage women in Indonesia to want to have regular early check-ups.
“This is almost the same as blood tests, cholesterol and the like, so it’s very helpful,” he said. With the new method, H Ibnu Sina hopes that the handling of cervical cancer will be more optimal in the future.
“If indeed someone has the potential for cervical cancer it will be easier to detect early with this method, it will be easier to treat, so that later they can be healthier,” said Ibnu Sina.
“Because it’s an advanced stage which is very difficult to cure, so I think this is very important for the health of mothers and young women,” he concluded.
