Mayor of Banjarbaru Implements “Banjarbaru Simultaneous Movement to Sweep and Exterminate Larvae” to Combat Dengue Fever Outbreak

Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) – Mayor of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province, Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin, is implementing the “Banjarbaru Simultaneous Movement to Sweep and Exterminate Larvae” (Gertak Bapuputik) to reduce the attack of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

“Bapuputik’s bluff is to suppress the attack of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, the cases of which are increasing,” said Aditya while promoting the eradication of dengue fever at SDN 3 Cempaka School in Banjarbaru, Friday.

According to Aditya, his party wants Gertak Bapuputik to be carried out continuously in communities, schools and office areas to prevent the Aedes aegypti mosquito from breeding.

Aditya hopes that every place or container that is a medium for breeding mosquitoes that spread the dengue virus can be cut off so that dengue fever cases can be reduced.

“Currently, almost all sub-districts in Banjarbaru have dengue fever cases and one child has been declared dead, so through this movement, the cases can be reduced,” said Aditya.

Aditya said that the spread of dengue fever attacks occurred in 19 sub-districts out of 20 sub-districts in Banjarbaru City and only one sub-district had not yet found a dengue case, namely Komet Sub-district.

“Therefore, we ask all parties and the community to play an active role in preventing dengue attacks through Gertak Bapuputik. Don’t let places or media for mosquito breeding be around us,” he said.

Aditya emphasized that the increasing cases of dengue fever must be a matter of collective concern and it is hoped that Bapuputik’s action will continue to be encouraged so that this deadly disease does not cause further loss of life.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SDN 3 Cempaka Zuraida said that his party had implemented Gertak Bapuputik in the school environment every Friday involving local students and teachers.

“Every Friday, we invite the children to clean the school environment, and items that have the potential to hold water are given soil and planted with flowers or other plants,” said Zuraida.

According to Zuraida, the children were also asked to do Gerkat Bapuputik at home to break the chain of spread of the aedes aegypti mosquito.
