The provision that allowed the hotel to rent the land in Seongnam City at a low price for 30 years and purchase the land at the end of the lease period is also related to Lee’s suspicion of breach of trust. Seongnam City signed a private contract with Mr. Hwang Mo, a hotel developer with a capital of 1.4 billion won, to guarantee business rights for the hotel site facing the Gyeongbu Expressway. It is known that Mr. Hwang has a close relationship with Mr. Jeong Jin-sang, who is the closest aide to CEO Lee.
Regarding the amendment of the agreement, the hotel side expressed its position, “It is a business agreement concluded in accordance with the relevant laws and there is no problem.” Representative Lee also said, “This is a matter that was reflected in the agreement after an internal legal review of Seongnam City.
