Mayor Fabián Pérez Herrera and Julio González Facilitate Understanding and Collaboration for Public Education Transformation in Constitución

In a day marked by collaboration and the desire to understand the coming changes, Julio González, executive director of the Maule Costa Local Public Education Service (SLEP), visited the welcoming community of Constitución. The visit, organized at the request of the mayor Fabián Pérez Herrera, and coordinated with the Municipal Education Department (Daem), brought together an outstanding audience of directors, education assistants, teachers, and teachers, who were eager to learn first-hand about the transformations that the public education as of January 1, 2024.

The renewed ministerial structure of public education, the epicenter of the day, was presented in an accessible and didactic way by director González, who also took the time to resolve concerns and clear up doubts regarding the transfer. This inaugural meeting not only marked the beginning of a series of similar gatherings, but also reflected Mayor Pérez Herrera’s unwavering commitment to guiding the demunicipalization process and keeping the local educational community informed and empowered.

At the end of the productive day, Mayor Pérez Herrera shared his vision of this transcendental step: “This experience allows us to dispel the anxiety, uncertainty and concern that have accompanied us in recent years in this transfer process. Through these inclusive assemblies, we seek to keep people who work in the field of public education informed, in addition to providing them with tools that allow a better adaptation to this new dynamic, where the gear of education transcends the municipal dependency and turns them into in civil servants and civil servants of the Chilean State. I am convinced that, in the medium term, this transformation will be beneficial for those who work in the field of education in the Constitución district.”

This inaugural chapter of dialogue and understanding strengthens the ties between educational and municipal entities, while paving the way towards a stronger education system focused on excellence.
