Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Edward Cabán called on New York City Council members on Sunday, January 21, to accompany NYPD officers as they patrol the city and employ policing strategies that helped reduce overall crime throughout the city in 2023.

The ombudsman speaks
In a press release sent to the editorial office, Ombudsman Jumaane Williams stated that the press conference amplified misinformation not only about Intro 586-A, but also about Intro 549-A, a project to prohibit solitary confinement in prisons, which was also vetoed by Adams.
