The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, met with the Minister of Culture in his official office, Nayden Todorov.
The sea visit is Todorov’s first working visit outside the capital. The two discussed the good cooperation, the leading projects and the possibilities for their timely implementation.
The Deputy Mayor of Burgas, Diana Savateva, informed the minister about new events and ideas in contemporary art spaces.
During the working visit today in Burgas, the minister also visited the Puppet Theater, the Branch of the National Academy of Arts and the Center for Contemporary Art and the Library.
Todorov was welcomed by Hristina Arsenova, Prof. Svetozar Benchev and Yana Karshiyska. They presented the workspaces and halls for public access, shared about the initiatives of the cultural institutes related to providing wider access to art.
“I am always very pleased to be in Burgas. I am very connected to this city not only because in the period 2003-2005 I worked as the artistic director of the Opera-Philharmonic Society here, but also because I recognize the artists, ideas and cultural products that are realized,” said Todorov.
He added that he already has experience and a working mechanism of action. According to Minister Todorov, it is culture that unites people as a nation and leaves a mark for generations.
The director of RB “P. Yavorov” – Yana Karshiyska, shared the good experience of the library, which is now located in the new modern building of the former German hospital, which was reconstructed according to a project of the Municipality of Burgas with European funding.
The center has two exhibition halls. All this, as well as the huge library collection of over 600,000 books, replenished regularly and according to the programs of the Ministry of Culture, is part of the magic of the new temple of the book, said Jana Karshiyska.
At the end of the meeting, the minister received his golden reader’s card.
Nayden Todorov also attended the premiere of “The Queen of Beauty” in DT “Adriana Budevska”. The production is by Boil Banov – the former Minister of Culture and a student of Borislav Chakrinov – the long-time director of the Burgas Melpomena, who left us recently.
