“MayoJazzea Festival Brings Together Barcelona and Madrid Jazz Scenes with Concert by Alba Careta Group and The Machetazo Quintet”

LOGROO, 10 (EUROPA PRESS)

The MayoJazzea festival establishes a musical bridge between the young jazz scenes of Barcelona and Madrid with the concert by the Alba Careta Group and The Machetazo quintet, which will be held this Thursday, May 11, at 8:00 p.m., at the Bretn Theater in I achieve.

The trumpeter and singer Alba Careta, Master in Jazz Trumpet from the prestigious Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Netherlands), will present Teia, her third album with her own band, after receiving recognition as best jazz album for her first album Orgens by the 2019 Enderrock Awards and having had a great reception his second work Alades, consolidating himself within the European jazz scene.

The Alba Careta group is made up of Alba herself on trumpet and voice, Lucas Martínez, on tenor sax, Roger Santacana on piano, Giuseppe Campisi on double bass and Josep Cordobs on drums.

The Madrid band The Machetazo, has a sober jazz root, very diverse influences and a lot of contemporary adventure. Trained at Musikene, its origin is located in New York, where its five members moved to further their studies. Daniel Jurez on sax, Nacho Fernndez on guitar, Jorge Castaeda on piano, Daro Guibert on double bass and Mikel Urretagoiena make up this group. Their third album Searching Hard confirms them as one of the freshest proposals on the jazz scene, providing a new sound for an old search.

This group has just been awarded, together with Paloma Cosano and José Cara, with the 2023 Gua del Jazz Awards, which recognize the best original projects of Spanish jazz.
