Máynez speaks out in Hermosillo in favor of legalizing marijuana

Hermosillo, Son. In a meeting with young people in Hermosillo, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, candidate for the presidency of the Republic for the Citizen Movement (MC), spoke out in favor of the legalization of marijuana in Mexico; On the occasion of April 20, which celebrates the cultivation and consumption of marijuana, he said that one of the most important issues in terms of security and addictions is the legalization of the sale and consumption of cannabis to regulate it and prevent the trafficking of other substances.

On his visit to the capital of Sonora, the flag bearer of the orange party accompanied candidate Natalia Rivera Grijalva at the start of her campaign for the mayor of Hermosillo, as well as other candidates for local deputies.

Later, in the meeting with young people, he explained why the legalization of marijuana consumption was important. “The strategy towards drugs cannot be prohibitionism. Why is it better that it was legal? At the outset they will ask for a voter ID or a document, it would be regulated by Cofepris, and we would see what products our children are consuming. If it were legal, we would have a tax collection policy that would allow the government to have resources to help other people. The same thing happens with any substance and in this case marijuana,” Álvarez Máynez explained to young supporters.
