Baker Mayfield threw two touchdown passes to Tyler Higbee and Cam Akers rushed for 118 yards and three more touchdowns as the Los Angeles Rams beat the Denver Broncos 51-14 on Sunday for their second win since mid-October.
Mayfield completed 24 of 28 passes for 230 yards and another outstanding performance in his second win in three games with the Rams (5-10) which this Christmas produced the best game in a disastrous season.
Rookie Cobie Durant returned his second interception for 85 yards and a touchdown with 4:08 left in the Rams’ first 50+ point performance under Sean McVay since a 54-51 win over Kansas City in 2018.
For at least another week, Los Angeles avoided becoming the first defending Super Bowl champion to lose 11 games.
Though the worst offense in the NFL before the game, Los Angeles became the second team to reach 50 points this season after Dallas, which did so earlier in the month, and turned in a dominant performance overall.
