JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Commissioner of PT Pertamina Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok said the state-owned oil company would close a number factory hers. This is because the refinery is considered inefficient, as well as an effort to encourage integration of oil refineries with products petrochemical.
He revealed that currently there are 6 refineries that Pertamina operates.
“Maybe some will be closed because they are very inefficient. Because they need new ones as integrated refineries,” Ahok said in the 2020 International Convention On Indonesian Upstream Oil & Gas which was held virtually, Wednesday (2/12/2020).

According to Ahok, the two locations which are currently projected to be developed as integrated petrochemical refineries are Factory Tuban and Balongan Factory.
Ahok said that in encouraging this integration, Pertamina also opened up options for cooperation with potential investors.
According to him, investors can invest in the petrochemical refinery complex.
For this step, Ahok even ensured that Pertamina was ready to partner with minority shareholders.

“Investors can take it crude oil-her to Indonesia, be supplier and Pertamina guarantees the purchase at market prices, “said Ahok.
However, Ahok did not want to specify which refineries could potentially be closed.
