PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk has been outspoken about a number of options for replacing money from its customers who lost some time ago. The money belongs to eSport athlete Winda Earl and her mother, valued at IDR 22 billion.
Maybank explained that currently it is exploring several options related to the process of reimbursing funds, one of which is through mediation efforts supported by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Consumer Protection Department. The answer was in response to a letter from the Indonesia Stock Exchange asking Maybank for an explanation of various reports in the mass media.
“We need to say that we have never planned to postpone the replacement of funds from affected customers. However, there are several things that need to go through a thorough investigation process,” the letter was quoted as saying. detikcom, Thursday (19/11/2020).
In this mediation effort, Maybank management will prepare a number of accountable replacement funds. This is done with due observance of applicable legal aspects and must be obeyed by both parties.
“Maybank Indonesia respects the ongoing legal process and will comply with the court’s decision which is legally enforceable,” said the letter again.
Furthermore Maybank disclosed that his party does not have material information / facts / other important events which may affect the share price and the survival of Maybank that has not been disclosed to the public.
Previously, the Spokesperson Maybank Indonesia Tommy Hersyaputera said the company is committed to complying with the prevailing regulations in the financial industry. Although it is not yet known exactly when the refund will be realized.
“This is a form of our responsibility to customers, shareholders and the public,” said Tommy as quoted by CNBC Indonesia, Monday (16/11/2020).
