Bengaluru: Opener and skipper Mayank Agarwal scored a double century in the first innings for Karnataka against Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy semi-final. Mayank scored 249 runs off 429 balls with 28 fours and six sixes in a match where all other batsmen failed except for wicketkeeper Srinivas Sarath. Mayank, who was the last out, was run out by Jackson.
Batting first, Karnataka opener Samarth R was out early with three runs off 20 balls. Among those who came later, Devdutt Patikal (9 in 8 balls), Nikin Jose (18 in 66 balls), Manish Pandey (7 in 13 balls) and Shreyas Gopal (15 in 29 balls) failed to shine, but Mayank’s fight with Srinivas Sarath brought the team to a good score. Srinivas scored 66 runs off 153 balls with four boundaries. Krishnappa Gautam returned with two runs off 17 balls, Vijayakumar Vysakh six off 19 balls and Vidwad Kaverappa 15 off 42 balls while V Kaushik remained unbeaten with 1* off 9 balls. Chetan Zakaria and Kushang Patel took three wickets each while Chirag Jani and Prerak Mangad took one wicket each for Saurashtra.
Saurashtra is 17 runs for one wicket after 12 overs in reply. Vidwad Kaverappa dismissed Sneh Patel before opening his account in 16 balls. Harvid Desai(5*) and Vishwaraj Jadeja(13*) are at the crease.
