The presidential campaign season is heating up just as Saturday Night Live is about to return to NBC in the TV Schedule 2024which means one thing: political parodies are coming to Saturday nights. Maya Rodolfo returns to his old sketch comedy haunts this fall for repeats her imitation of Vice President Kamala HarrisAs soon as Harris was announced as the Democratic presidential candidate, The rumor on the Internet was that Rudolph would return to reinterpret it. SNL The student has since said that everyone else decided she would do it before she even agreed.
It wasn’t long after that The news broke that Kamala Harris would be the Democratic candidate for President of the United States instead of Joe Biden so that people begin to assume that Rudolph would have a key role to play in SNLThe show’s 50th season, a milestone. And why not? She had won an Emmy for the role in 2020, when Harris was running for Biden’s vice president. For the actress, however, seeing that buzz was “fascinating.” Speaking to VarietyShe said:
This stage of my life has been fascinating, because I think it’s the first and only time I’ve been involved in something where the world has determined that I was going to do something before I did it. Yeah, I laughed a lot about that.
It’s a good thing Maya Rudolph is willing to reprise her role as Kamala Harris. SNL Season 50; fans wasted no time in starting to speculate about Who would play Harris’ husband?Doug Emhoff, on the sketch comedy show opposite her. For his part, Emhoff joked that Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynoldsy Chris Hemsworth They should be candidates to interpret it. Then came the requests for Who would play Minnesota Governor Tim Walz? after it was announced that Harris would be his running mate. Rumors about her return to SNL took off quickly. Also in a conversation with VarietyRudolph said:
It’s a huge compliment, but it was also very strange, because I woke up to an article saying that I had been confirmed to play her, and I hadn’t talked to anyone! This is so much bigger than me and it’s about a very big deal. I’m really excited to be associated with this and I’m also glad that I got to play her and that everyone thinks it’s cool. She likes it.
It is certainly a compliment when a key figure likes the portrayal given to him. SNLand Kamala Harris commented on Maya Rudolph’s portrayal in Late Night with Seth Meyers When she ran for vice president in 2020, she said she “fully intends to make sure that she has eight good years of work in SNL“Oh, how times have changed since Harris was a vice presidential candidate instead of president of the United States!

SNL He has a habit of bringing in guest actors to play prominent political figures on a recurring basis and often receives praise for doing so. Alec Baldwin won an Emmy for his parody of Donald Trump in 2017 and was nominated for the same SNL Rudolph’s role in the film was reprised two more times. Melissa McCarthy also won an Emmy in 2017 for her portrayal of then-press secretary Sean Spicer. Whether Rudolph will receive another Emmy for her role as Harris remains to be seen.
It has not been confirmed when Maya Rudolph will return to Saturday Night Live as Kamala Harris will air, but I’d be surprised if she doesn’t appear in the season 50 premiere on Saturday, September 28.
