‘May solidarity’ with the Avila Food Bank | SER Ávila

During the month of May, Gadis Supermarkets will carry out a solidarity campaign to collect non-perishable food and financial donations that they will allocate to thirteen Food Banks located in Castilla y León and Galicia.

Until May 29, food can be deposited in the spaces set up in the more than two hundred supermarkets that GADISA has in the two autonomous communities. Among the most demanded products are milk, biscuits, cereals, preserves, oils, legumes and rice. In addition, in this campaign there is the possibility of making financial contributions.

In 2020, requests for help increased by 20% at the Avila Food Bank as a result of the economic crisis derived from the pandemic.

The company highlights the generosity of customers throughout the nine editions of ‘May Solidarity’. “We are what we are thanks to the trust of our clients who, in addition, year after year have always shown us their solidarity with the less favored, even in complex situations such as those we have experienced in recent months,” they indicate from the department of GADISA Corporate Social Responsibility, which also appreciates the cooperation of the entire human team so that this collaborative initiative, which was born in 2013, is a success.

When the collection campaign ends, Gadis Supermarkets will make its own contribution to the food banks of A Coruña, Ferrol, Santiago de Compostela, Lugo, Ourense, Vigo, Ávila, León, Palencia, Ponferrada, Salamanca, Valladolid and Zamora, which together they serve more than 100,000 people and collaborate with more than 800 social organizations.

The company reports that it collaborates with “this aid model due to the knowledge that these eleven entities have in the day-to-day of the needs of the groups they assist, allowing the distribution to be equitable and meet the objectives set”.
